New Post

Are you staying cool with some hot books? I hope so! I’ve been reading a lot this summer. Most recently, I read Colleen Hoover’s VERITY in two days! A special person in my family had been urging me to read this book for ages, and, finally, she brought me the book and put it down right in front of me. I’m really glad she did, because I’d been curious about Colleen Hoover’s meteoric rise on the NYT bestseller list and the stories about how Tik Tok made that happen. I found the book to be gripping, and I enjoyed it, despite the disappointing ending. Have you read any of CoHo’s books?

July 4th makes me think of Quinn McFarland in BAD BLOOD SISTERS. Quinn’s danger-filled journey begins just after July 4th, when her brother’s kidney transplant surgery comes through, and her former BFF’s battered body is brought in to the family mortuary. Quinn’s troubled past rushes up to haunt her, and she must act decisively to resolve the past and forge the future. If you haven’t yet read BAD BLOOD SISTERS, now is the time. Purchase it autographed at Galveston Bookshop or online at http://saralynrichard.com/bookstore.

Here’s another way to stay cool this month. A recipe for Strawberry-Chocolate Greek Yogurt Bark. Greek yogurt is studded with fresh strawberries and chocolate chips, then frozen so you can break it into chunks, just like chocolate bark, but healthier.

Ingredients: 3 C whole-milk plain Greek yogurt, ¼ C pure maple syrup or honey, 1 t vanilla extract, 1-1/2 C sliced strawberries, ¼ C mini chocolate (milk, semi-sweet, or dark) chips.

Directions: Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Stir yogurt, maple syrup or honey, and vanilla in a medium bowl. Spread on the prepared baking sheet into a 10 × 15 inch rectangle. Scatter the strawberries on top and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Freeze until very firm, at least 3 hours. To serve, cut or break into 32 pieces. (Can be frozen airtight between sheets of parchment paper up to 1 month.)

During the month of July, the ebooks of the three Detective Parrott books will be on sale at Smashwords.com. Here are the links: Crystal Blue Murder (smashwords.com) A Palette for Love and Murder (smashwords.com) Murder in the One Percent (smashwords.com). This would be a good time to download the books for yourself or give them as a gift.

What are you up to in July? I’m excited to have a girl cousins’ reunion on the horizon and several book clubs. Let me know if you’d like me to join your book club or organization meeting as a speaker or participant, in person or online. Meanwhile, I’m sending big hugs and wishes fir the very best Fourth of July, summer blueberries, ocean breezes, and happy reading!
